STUDENT TESTIMONIALS

“I was placed in the intense reigns of Charlie Sandlan.  I became a better artist, actor, friend, sibling and daughter because of the studio. Even now, I crave the studio every day. What I learned is present in my work every day. I truly believe in everything they stand for.”

Maggie taught me that I could control my work, my acting, and to throw all of the bullshit out that I had in my head about ‘what I should be doing’ and to just listen and respond honestly, in the moment. She gave me a craft. She is, quite simply put, THE BEST.”

Maggie Flanigan taught me the true meaning of artistry, passion, and professionalism. I am certain that I continue to work as an actress because of my training with Maggie. At every audition and every performance, her guiding voice is with me. It is a gift beyond measure.”

Philosophy

Being a talented actor does not necessarily make you a good auditioner.

Many well-trained, gifted actors struggle to work consistently because they have never learned how to audition well. They become tense, self-conscious, overly concerned with getting the job, or so focused on doing everything “right” that the freedom and spontaneity of their acting disappear.

Auditioning is an art unto itself.

It requires preparation, confidence, flexibility, and the ability to make strong, specific choices quickly. Whether working in the room or on a self-tape, the actor must understand how to enter an audition prepared, handle adjustments, work within technical limitations, and then leave themselves alone enough for something truthful and unexpected to happen.

The goal is not to learn tricks for booking a job. It is to develop a reliable audition process.

Alberto’s extensive experience as both an actor and director gives students a practical understanding of what happens on both sides of the audition. He challenges actors to recognize the habits that undermine their work, sharpen their preparation, make compelling choices, and develop the confidence to walk into an audition without asking for approval.

At the Maggie Flanigan Studio, we believe a serious actor should be able to bring the quality of their training into every professional opportunity. The Professional Audition teaches actors how to do exactly that—to enter the room or step in front of the camera prepared, grounded, specific, and free, and to consistently show the industry the full extent of what they can do.
