In addition to being a certified Reiki Master, Breathwork Healer, and Institute for Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Laura holds a BFA in acting from NYU’s Tisch school of the arts. She is the owner and founder of Reiki for Actors.

Laura is a lifelong artist, compassionate teacher, and dedicated healer. Her practice specializes in working with actors and other artists to help them overcome the anxieties and addictive patterns that often occur as a result of their craft. To free these hindrances, she uses a combination of reiki, guided visualization, and the breath to coax the body into a deeply relaxed and open state conducive to healing. Trauma is then pulled up and released physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

As an artist who has struggled with anxiety and addiction, she understands how important it is to clear these energy blocks in order for the artist to create from a more inspired and healthy place. Laura’s professional mission is to give her clients the tools needed to lead a fuller, more empowered, and creative life.

It brings me immense joy to watch students expand, grow and heal while working with me. My years as an acting student and actor dealing with the demands of the industry, led me to my first Reiki Healing. When I discovered Reiki and its benefits, I knew I wanted to become a Reiki Master and teacher, bringing healing work to the acting community. My goal as a teacher is to empower my students and provide them with the tools needed to live a healthy life. The students at Maggie Flanigan are undergoing a rigorous training program which challenges them on a deep artistic level. I create a safe space where they can process out any lingering emotions from their classes. I believe the healthier the mind, body and spirit of the actor is, the more inspired, creative and passionate they will be. I am thrilled to be a part of the Maggie Flanigan Studio and teaching a group of dedicated actors.

Reiki for Actors

Sustaining Your Health and Vitality

The Maggie Flanigan Studio is committed to developing well-rounded artists, and curating a training conservatory that supports the Meisner Technique and the rigorous demands of serious training.  Acting is experiential, and that is not possible without breath.  An actor must have the ability to breathe and release into experience.   Meisner training challenges students to explore and function from all aspects of their emotional pallet.  The work is very deep, and our studio is dedicated to providing students with important disciplines to sustain their health and vitality. We want to support them, and provide the tools to process their work both inside and outside of their acting class.

Teaching Philosophy

As I teacher, I want to empower my students and provide them with the tools needed to live a healthy life, and, therefore, create from a healthy place. When I discovered Reiki, I was an actor, an acting student at the time, and I knew then that I wanted to become a Reiki master and teacher so I could share healing work with the acting community.

What it takes to become and be a professional actor is extremely demanding. It is physically, emotionally, and mentally, and spiritually challenging, and can be really draining. I want to provide a respite for that. I want to create a safe space where the students can heal, where they can gain mental clarity, gain physical and emotional relief and relaxation because I believe that the healthier the mind, body, and spirit of the actor, the more inspired they will be, the more creative they will be, the more passionate they will be, and the easier the work will be. The easier all their other classes will be.
